Holiday Stroll

We have found that the kiddos ride in the car with the least amount of resistance when we get up and go bright and early. On Black Friday, Pumpkin woke us up extra early so we decided to hit the road before the sun came up. No shopping deals for us, but a crazy long car ride. Sweet Pea and Pumpkin were amazing! We only stopped three times on our journey!!! We made great time, and were amazed that we arrived to our home before the sun went down. Remarkable.

Since we had the evening free of travel we decided to head into town for the annual Holiday Stroll. The main streets of town are blocked off, vendors sold snacks, businesses had amazing deals, and lots of people meandered up and down the streets enjoying the wonderful weather.

We grabbed some treats along the way, warmed up with some cocoa and roasted chestnuts, and enjoyed our adventure. We met a few reindeer, watched the town Christmas tree being lite, and collected some candy canes during the light parade. It was a evening to remember, and a family tradition we would love to continue. Who knows, maybe next year we will even stay for the fireworks. :o)

In immediate hours after Pumpkin was born I may have been a bit emotional. OK, let's be serious, I was a basket full of emotion. When I looked at Pumpkin's amazingly beautiful hair (I loved that it sticks straight up on the top.) I began to cry. It wasn't the idea that he was extremely precious or an amazing miracle, which he was, but it was because I was going to need to cut his hair. Yep, I'm crazy, I know. You see, we haven't cut Sweet Pea's hair yet. She is almost 3 and she has ponies and bows and somehow she is still my little baby. I guess, I think she is going to look like a "big girl" after I finally break down and her hair is cut. I don't want my little baby boy to be a "big boy" quite yet. I guess I will just have to see how long I will be able to keep him haircut free, because I can't put a bow or barrette in his hair...

On The Farm Sunday Duds

TR2 decided to head to the farm for Thanksgiving early. She ended up driving through the first snow storm of the season. Luckily she got up extra early and missed the brunt of it, but she still added an extra hour onto her trip with bad visibility and roads. What was she thinking? The kids where great!!! And it was great to have family along the way to help her at a few of their stops. What a treat to get to the farm and play in the wintry white wonderland. The next day Sweet Pea and Pumpkin were able to show off their Sunday Duds at the farm.

And making it's first appearance is Pumpkin's new blanket. What fun it was to find this "steal" at our church's Fall Fair. :o)

Dr. A. and Pumpkin - 6 weeks

She cool as a cucumber. Even when Pumpkin decided to voice his opinion about when he needed to eat Dr. A. was able to show us her beautiful smile. Dr. A was the first person to meet our little Pumpkin, and TR2 is so happy she found her. They are both North Dakota girls, both have some Fighting Sioux blood running through their veins, they make each other laugh, oh, and TR2 totally trusts her. It was a perfect fit. :o)

Thanks Dr. A. for all your wonderful care, and bringing this little guy out to meet the world. Can you believe it was 6 weeks ago?

One Month

The time with little Pumpkin seems to be flying by. I know I have said it many times, but it really is going by fast. I am trying to cherish my time with our little Pumpkin. I have been putting off the laundry, cleaning, and other household tasks, just to have a few extra moments with our little angel. There are no words for the love we have for this little guy.

TR1 gave Pumpkin a special rattle when he was born. However, when we opened the box it was not a rattle, but a picture frame! What a surprise. After making a return, and a new order. Pumpkin's rattle arrived just in time for his one month photos.

A Picnic in November!

Due to unseasonably warm temperatures, this November has been almost "balmy". One morning TR1 asked us to pack a lunch and we headed into town to have a picnic and to try out some new playground equipment.

Halloween is the day that our Sweet Pea turned into a little cupcake. This year was the first year we headed out to do some "serious" trick-or-treating. We headed into town to enjoy a delicious pumpkin pizza with our friends Big T and Lady L. Then it was time to get all dressed up and head on out.

Backfloat Baby Three

TR1 and TR2 decided that if Pumpkin's arrival was going to turn Sweet Pea's life she should have one thing constant in her life that was just for her. They decided to keep her enrolled in swimming lessons. She is the only student in her class and she gets a ton of extra attention. Sweet Pea seems to be thriving in this environment, and her instructor is teaching her advanced skills for her Backfloat Baby Three level. Originally the plan was that TR1 would be helping Sweet Pea in the water as she needed an adult in the pool with her, and TR2 was unable to be in the water after her c-section. HOWEVER, he lucked out and only needed to join Sweet Pea in the pool one time! Enid, Sweet Pea's teacher, has asked that Sweet Pea join her in the pool alone. These are a few photos of our little swimmer on her last day with a parent in the pool. (Notice how she doesn't need them anymore.)

Once again TR2 busted out the white onesie to see take monthly photos and watch Pumpkin's growth. The little bodysuit is size 18month and we see that it is still a little bit big on a boy that is only 2 weeks old. ;o)

The photo session was not an activity that Pumpkin was excited to take part, but look at those amazing little fingers.

However, when he is upset you can Pumpkin's length.

So handsome.

Two Weeks

Pumpkin's two week birthday was a busy day! Somehow (Thanks to Grandma D) everyone got up and moving early enough to get TR2 to her doctor visit. After the appointment they picked up a hitch hiker along the way. :o)

It has become our family tradition that Grandma H gives the babies their first bath at home. Pumpkin received his first official bath on his one week birthday.

A Visit to See Dr. Michelle

Pumpkin met Dr. Michelle just one day before his one week birthday. He was a very good boy and slept almost entirely through the whole visit. Due to his exceptional behavior, Sweet Pea was able to pick out an awesome snoopy sticker for him. Sweet Pea also got her own sticker as she got a flu shot during Pumpkin's visit. (No crying by her. Wooohooo!!!) Pumpkin weighed in at 8lbs 6oz, just 3oz shy of his birth weight. His head grew in circumference up to 14.75 inches. For some reason he shrunk down to 21inches in length.

It was a very good visit.

P.S. To add to the excitement of the day, Dr. Michelle also removed Pumpkin's umbilical cord while at our visit. :o)

Apple Pickin' Sunday Duds

This fall at The Ranch we had more apples to harvest than we knew what to do with them all. (Good thing only two of our trees produced apples.) Before Uncle T, Auntie M, and Cousin T made the trip back to the farm we let them pick a "few" apples.

Sweet Pea was very excited to find out that her little brother had brought her a gift when he arrived at the hospital. She had been asking for a purple bicycle for at least 4 months so they thought this might be the perfect time to get her one.

She knew something was up when she found a purple helmet from her brother.

It was a perfect fit.

Then came the new wheels!

(You might notice that her bike is not quite purple as requested, but after searching high and low this was the closest balance bike, in stock, that we could find. We did deck it out with purple accessories.)

We think she liked it. ;o)

He's Here!!!

Scheduling Baby Ryan #2's appearance took some "shock" out of his arrival, but it didn't take away from the joy, excitement, or anticipation. On October 4th our little pumpkin...

Finn Joseph Ryan

arrived via cesarean section at 7:56AM. He weighed in at 8pounds and 9.2ounces. Mr. Finn was 21.5inches long, and had a head circumference of 14.5inches.

Apple Junction

Today while TR1 had his midday break, Sweet Pea and TR2 decided to join him at a local apple orchard. They decided to head to McDougall's Apple Junction. One of our new neighbors works there and gave us an excellent recommendation. She was even working at the orchard today and we were able to see her for a few short moments which made our adventure even better. :o)

Giggles

Most people know them as swimming goggles, but Sweet Pea calls them a cross between giggles and googles. She has fallen in love with them lately. This past Monday at swimming lessons she was able to wear a pair of goggles while learning to put her face in the water. Since then, the pair we purchased last June (That Doodle Bug helped pick out) have been the most popular accessory in our home. TR2 is just glad she is willing to wear them. :o)

Counting Down Sunday Duds

37 Weeks! TR4 is now considered to be a "full term" baby. In just nine more days we will be meeting him/her!!!

Sweet Pea and TR2 decided to make a countdown chain. Each morning Sweet Pea gets to tear a link off after breakfast. She does not quite understand how her world is going to change, but at least she knows that something special is about to take place.

It took TR1 & TR2 almost 2 months to come up with names for the newest additions to their family. Is it any wonder they still don't have a name for TR4? The pressure...

These little guys came to the new house all the way from the farm in ND. Thank you Grandma and Grandpa H. They were all frightened of humans, but it seems that Sweet Pea has taken care of that. Unfortunately, I have not taken to them as well as the other family members. :o)

TR2's college friend Bambi welcomed her newest addition to her family. Little Benjamin arrived into this crazy little world at just 35 weeks, and needed to visit one of the local children's hospitals for a few days. Lucky for us we were able to spend a little time with Bambi and her new little man.

Mommy and Baby are doing great! In fact, rumor was that they were going home the next day. What a wonderful little blessing you have, Bambi. We love you and are excited to see your handsome little boy grow.

Blue Sunday Duds

This week TR2 decided to share Sweet Pea's spotlight. :o)

Sweet Pea Time

The last few weeks TR2 has been trying to spend extra "fun" time with Sweet Pea. Most often it is working on a craft, or playing something special Sweet Pea would like to do. TR2 has really enjoyed putting all of her worries and stress and concentrating on having FUN!!! On this particular day they headed to a nearby town to play at their super awesome playground.

The End of an Era

Why? You might ask was TR2 photographing her garbage? Well, because it was the end of an Era.

Sweet Pea gave up her paci! We have been throwing them away for quite a while, but replacing them along the way. Since she only used them while she was sleeping, or long car rides. Whenever she would chew a hole through one we would simply throw it in the garbage and let the recycling man take it away to make a new paci for a new baby who needed it more than Sweet Pea. This has been going on for a few months. This time, TR2 did not have any pacifiers to replace the three holey pacifiers that were slowly making their way in to the trash. In the period of a week, all three pacis were thrown away, recycled, and given to new babies. Sweet Pea placed them all in the trash, and she has been a bit sad at times, but as a whole she has been a very brave girl. She is AMAZING!

So we hope you don't mind seeing our dirty tissues, fruit snack wrapper, glue stick packaging, because is all reminds us how extraordinary our little Sweet Pea is and how "grown up" she is becoming.

We only have three weeks and two days until we meet TR4. TR2's book says that baby is approximately 5.25 pounds, over 18 inches long, and has only one job at this point...to put on weight!

Someone asked to wear her kitty undies, so TR2 thought why not try. In the long run, she decided to return to the pampers, but Sweet Pea is getting closer. TR2 couldn't resist taking a few pictures of these cute little buns. :o)

Art Projects

Since we are a bit more "settled" at the new house, TR2 has been able to work on a few art projects with Sweet Pea.

She has been having a lot of fun decorating the letters of her name with stickers, tissue paper, glitter, and now watercolor paints. They have been using a super neat trick with glue to keep their paintbrushes from escaping the lines. :o)

Birthdays Times Two

The very next day, our family was invited to a royal celebration! Big T and Lady L were growing a year older and we were able to help them celebrate at their princess and knight grand event.

There were crafts.

There was pin the crown on the princess. (A super cool bouncy castle too.)

A bit of silliness squeaked in the middle.

A pinata or two.

And of course amazing cake, presents, and food.

Happy birthday to a very special princess, and a very noble knight. We love you!

The Fair!!!

We were able to visit the MN State fair this year too!

After an unfortunate situation with a TON of mold on our stroller that we did not notice until we arrived at the fairgrounds, Sweet Pea was the proud renter of this absolutely wonderful race car stroller for the day. (P.S. TR2 says it was not absolutely wonderful pushing it.) The fried pickle and Sweet Martha's cookie booths were our first stops at the fair. A perfect breakfast.

Next we strolled on in to the butterfly house. TR1 loved them.

TR2 and Sweet Pea shared the same reaction. Beautiful to look at, but lets just keep them away.

We then hit up the Little Farm Hands exhibit. (Yep, that is a Kemp's cow tattoo on her arm.)

Bringing her crop to the market. After receiving her paycheck from her crop, Sweet Pea decided to buy herself some cheerios.

We made a few stops in between... lemonade, K9 dogs, quesadilla, John Deere tractors, etc. Sweet Pea and TR1 enjoyed a few rides. The carousel proved to be a bit fast for this gal.

But the safari train was just right.

It was a fantastic day at the fair!

Goodbye Red House Sunday Duds

On the last weekend of August we said goodbye to our "Red House".

We started out with a little fun on the deck of the "New House".

Even a bit of relaxing.

And lots of smiles.

After church we picked up a picnic lunch and headed to Harvard Drive.

A few more smiles with Daddy. (Sweet Pea is still smiling with her eyes closed.)

A quick trip down the slide.

A ride on the "big girl swing".

And a few last farewells to TR2's flowers and our wonderful neighbors. We will miss a lot of things about our first home together as a family, but we are excited to officially begin our new adventure out in the country.

32 Weeks

TR4 will be arriving in just 7 weeks!!!

According to the info TR2 has been reading baby weighs 3.75 pounds and is about 16.7 inches long. Rumor has it that she is now gaining about a pound of weight a week! YIKES!!! (However, roughly half of that goes right to TR4.) Baby also has toenails, fingernails, and real hair. What an amazing little miracle!!!

Pool Party!!!

We had our first "official" family pool party/cook out in the middle of August. Grandma and Grandpa R , Uncle D's family, and Auntie C all joined in the fun!

Key Card Sunday Duds

After their adventure to Alaska, TR1 and TR2 gave all of their hotel key cards to Sweet Pea. She thinks that they are her credit cards, yet still tries to use them to open the doors to the house, car, and and random rooms.

Sometimes you just have to sit down on the gravel in your white dress to get a rock out of your shoe.

A New Water Table

Just a few short weeks after Sweet Pea celebrated her birthday a very unfortunate thing happened to her fabulous water table. Some very hungry squirrels decided it might make a delightful treat. While we don't know how they felt about their snack, we do know that they made quite a few holes in the lid and the table. TR2 decided it had to be replaced. Weeks went by, but TR2 didn't want to order a new table until they had made their move to "The New House". So Sweet Pea waited, and waited, and waited some more.

Look what was waiting for Sweet Pea at the ranch when they got home from the farm! We are pleased to inform you that she LOVES the second table just as much as the first.

Grandpa P got a new tractor!!! It's super awesome and has a fancy seat just my size. It hasn't even been in the field yet so it is extra clean!
